After‌ ‌a‌ ‌long‌ ‌week‌ ‌of‌ ‌juggling‌ ‌between‌ ‌being‌ ‌a‌ ‌full-time‌ ‌employee‌ ‌and‌ ‌student,‌ ‌raising‌ ‌two‌ ‌little‌ monkeys‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌single-dad,‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌process‌ ‌of‌ ‌publishing‌ ‌my‌ ‌first‌ ‌book,‌ ‌coming‌ ‌in‌ ‌2021,‌ ‌(please‌‌ pray‌ ‌for‌ ‌me),‌ ‌maintaining‌ ‌Voices‌ ‌of‌ ‌The‌ ‌Reciters‌ ‌band‌  ‌(www.voicesofthereciters.com),‌ ‌and‌ ‌a‌ whole‌ ‌bunch‌ ‌of‌ ‌Somali‌ ‌tea‌ ‌to‌ ‌keep‌ ‌me‌ ‌going‌ ‌throughout‌ ‌the‌ ‌week,‌ ‌I‌ ‌eagerly‌ ‌look‌ ‌forward to‌ ‌‌having‌ my‌ ‌guests‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌show,‌ ‌and‌ ‌YOU‌ ‌tuning‌ ‌in,‌ ‌listening‌ ‌and‌ ‌learning‌ ‌together.‌

Hi‌ ‌there!‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌your‌ ‌host,‌ ‌King‌ ‌Abu.‌ ‌I‌ ‌live‌ ‌in‌ ‌SoCal,‌ ‌but‌ ‌originally‌ ‌from‌ ‌Michigan.‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌currently‌‌ going‌ ‌to‌ ‌school‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌Communications‌ ‌major‌ ‌and‌ ‌film ‌directing.‌ ‌As‌ ‌stated‌ ‌above,‌ ‌I‌ ‌have‌ ‌two ‌‌amazing,‌ ‌creative‌ ‌and‌ ‌intuitive‌ ‌(and‌ ‌yes,‌ mischievous)‌ ‌boys.‌ ‌Love‌ ‌them‌ ‌to‌ ‌pieces.‌ ‌But‌ ‌which‌‌ parent‌ ‌doesn’t,‌ ‌right?‌ ‌Apparently,‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌their‌ ‌“butler.”‌ ‌They‌ ‌say‌ ‌I‌ ‌have‌ ‌to‌ ‌cook‌ ‌for‌ ‌them,‌ ‌clean‌‌ after‌ ‌them,‌ ‌and‌ ‌do‌ ‌their‌ ‌laundry.‌ ‌BUT‌ ‌they‌ ‌refuse‌ ‌to‌ ‌pay‌ ‌me‌ ‌for‌ ‌my‌ ‌work.‌ ‌In‌ ‌fact,‌ ‌they‌ ‌take‌‌ money‌ ‌from‌ ‌me.‌ ‌Can‌ ‌someone‌ ‌please‌ ‌tell‌ ‌me‌ ‌who‌ ‌the‌ ‌hell‌ ‌started‌ ‌this‌ ‌allowance‌ ‌business?‌

After the expiration of my marriage, a most profound realization was birthed: simply put, we need to do a better job in reforming our familial relationships, and it all starts with preparing our youths for marriages, as that is the starting point of having a family. And then an idea was formed: Mindful Meeting podcast, a weekly podcast where minds meet to empower and mold the complete family. Every episode, I share with you stories (and advice) from experts in their respective fields (and sometimes, just “normal” people) focused on our spiritual, financial, physical, mental and emotional well-being and growth. I am very passionate about being a dad, empowering women, and encouraging men to continue to be the fathers, sons, husbands, and men God wants us to be; and prayerfully, this podcast will be beneficial for that purpose. I hope YOU will join me in this journey.

Lastly, I am known for my Somali tea; it is my specialty!
