After a long week of juggling between being a full-time employee and student, raising two little monkeys, maintaining Voices of The Reciters band (www.voicesofthereciters.com), and a whole bunch of Somali tea to keep me going throughout the week, I eagerly look forward to having my guests on the show, and YOU tuning in, listening, learning, and growing together.
Hi there! I am your host, King Abu. I live in the States, but originally from East Africa. I am currently going to school to major in Communications. As stated above, I have two amazing, creative and intuitive (and yes, mischievous) boys. Love them to pieces. But which parent doesn’t, right?
After the expiration of my marriage, a most profound realization was birthed: simply put, we need to do a better job in reforming our familial relationships and put an end to the staggering divorce rates of our Muslim Ummah, and it all starts with preparing our youth for marriage, as that is the starting point of having a family. That’s when the idea was formed: Mindful Meeting, a weekly podcast where minds meet to empower and mold the complete family. Every episode, I share with you stories (and advice) from experts in their respective fields (and sometimes, just “normal” people) focused on our spiritual, financial, physical, mental, and emotional well-being and growth. I am very passionate about being a dad and empowering and encouraging Muslim women and men to continue to be the wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, daughters, and sons God wants them to be; prayerfully, this podcast will be beneficial for that purpose. I hope YOU will join me in this journey.
